21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Theme: Behold Him

January 4–24

“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” — John 1:29

Behold means to Look, See, and Listen.
This is not rushed prayer. It is intentional attention.

Each day we will:

  1. LOOK for the Bridegroom
  2. SEE Him through Scripture and the Holy Spirit
  3. LISTEN for His instruction and invitation

WHY WE FAST

Fasting is not about earning God’s favor—it is about removing distractions so we can behold Him clearly.

Fasting:

  • Clears spiritual fog
  • Weakens the voice of the flesh
  • Heightens spiritual sensitivity
  • Positions us to hear and obey
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8

FASTING OPTIONS (Choose One)

Encourage people to choose a fast that stretches them without endangering health:

  • Daniel Fast (fruits, vegetables, whole foods)
  • Sunup to Sundown Fast
  • One Meal a Day Fast

The goal is not the fast itself—but what replaces it: prayer, Scripture, silence, and attentiveness to Jesus.

DAILY QUIET TIME OUTLINE

LOOK → SEE → LISTEN

Plan for 20–40 minutes daily.

1. LOOK – Fix Your Attention on the Bridegroom (5–10 min)

This is about turning your heart toward Jesus.

How to Look:

  • Begin in silence
  • Take slow, intentional breaths
  • Pray a simple prayer like:
  • “Jesus, I turn my eyes toward You.”

Guiding Questions:

  • What has been competing for my attention?
  • Where have my eyes drifted?
  • What would it look like to truly behold Him today?

Suggested Scripture:

  • Psalm 27:4
  • Hebrews 12:2
  • Song of Songs 2:8–9

2. SEE – Encounter Him in Scripture (10–15 min)

This is not about reading more Scripture—but seeing Jesus in Scripture.

How to See:

  • Read the passage slowly (2–3 times)
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate the text
  • Pay attention to words or phrases that stand out

Ask:

  • What does this show me about Jesus?
  • What is He revealing about His heart?
  • Where do I see Him moving, speaking, or inviting?

Suggested Practice:

  • Gospel-focused reading (John, Luke, Mark)
  • Messianic Psalms
  • Prophetic passages pointing to Christ

3. LISTEN – Receive His Instruction (5–10 min)

This is where obedience begins.

How to Listen:

  • Sit quietly with an open heart
  • Journal impressions, convictions, or invitations
  • Don’t rush—clarity often comes in stillness

Ask:

  • Holy Spirit, what are You saying to me?
  • Is there something You are asking me to do, release, or trust?
  • What obedience step flows from beholding You?

Anchor Verse:

“Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” — 1 Samuel 3:10

CLOSING PRAYER (2–5 min)

End each day by surrendering what you’ve seen and heard.

“Jesus, I choose to behold You today.
I receive what You have shown me.
I will walk in what You have spoken.
I trust You as my Bridegroom and King.
Amen.”
